UDAY Foundation, a non-profit initiative in the field of BPO industry, has been set as a separate trust. It aims at promoting rural economy by creating employment for the educated/trained/capable/qualified rural and semi urban masses by improving their existing skills and by providing new skills through proper training.
Uday Foundation has been set in the rural heartlands of TCL facilities at Mithapur (Gujarat) and Babrala (Uttar Pradesh). UDAY has taken a lead in providing employment for the surrounding rural communities; especially for educated women and rural youth. It has also helped in creating a reverse migration setting. Uday has been a big motivator for acquiring higher education degrees especially among the young girls who otherwise would have not enrolled themselves for higher studies. The exposure that the youths get from this rural BPO is enlightening as it not only provides employment to them in their home towns but also provides them a window into the hi-tech industry of call centers where they can eventually grow and build career anywhere in the country.
Uday’s vision is to generate employment and develop a sustainable business model that is scalable and replicable in the other parts of the country. Evidently, the benefits of starting a center in rural areas are the low real estate costs and less employee attrition with reducing training costs and curve, which results in net savings of nearly 40 percent in a period of 2-3 years over the urban counterparts.
